COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BOX, FIBERBOARD, OVERPACK FOR FIVE TYPE IV BOXES
FOR POST OFFICE MONEY ORDER FORMS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to PPP-B-1606, Type VIII, Style B.
This description covers Post Office Monet Orders Forms Boxes, Fiberboard Special Use, Type VIII. Type VIII shall be an end opening, regular slotted box (RSC), modified as shown in figure 1. The size shall be inside dimensions, as follows, with a tolerance of minus 0, plus 3/16 inches:

Salient characteristics.
The corrugated fiberboard shall be a minimum grade of 200, C-flute. Type VIII boxes shall have lap-type stitched, stapled, or glued manufacturer’s joints. Boxes shall be in accordance with the National Motor Freight Classification, Item 222, or Uniform Freight Classification, Rule 41, and shall bear the appropriate boxmaker’s certificate.
Workmanship. The boxes shall be free from any defects that may affect its serviceability, durability, or appearance.
Regulatory requirements. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
