COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BOXES, CONSOLIDATION, FIBERBOARD
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial
item description, for all federal agencies.
1. Scope. This description covers requirements for
weather-resistant, high stacking strength, double-wall, and triple-wall
corrugated fiberboard boxes of special design and characteristics. These boxes
are suitable for domestic and overseas consolidated shipment of aircraft parts,
general supplies and equipment.
2. Salient Characteristics
A. Types
Type I – Double-wall corrugated fiberboard,
weather-resistant, in accordance with ASTM D5118 and ASTM D4727, grade V11c.
Type II – Triple-wall corrugated fiberboard, weather-resistant, in accordance
with ASTM D5168.
B. Styles
Style S – Sleeve (tube body) with double cover
Style T – Half-slotted body with cover (transporter)
C. First article. When specified, the contractor shall
furnish sample units for first article inspection and approval. First article
teats shall consist of all tests specified herein.
